Selena Gomez on her upcoming sophomore album:
Were you nervous about taking the leap from actress to singer? Of course! That’s why it took me a while to get into the music scene. It was very nerve-wracking but I’m in a very good place and I’ve worked really hard on my album. Why did you decide to go down the band route instead of launching as a solo artist? I just really didn’t want to be a solo artist. Originally I wanted the project to be called ‘The Scene’, but obviously that would be confusing for my younger audience who know me because of the show and my name, so we decided to use both. I think it’s worked out well.
What’s up with the follow up album? I’m working on it at the moment and hopefully we’ll get it out this year. I’m really enjoying my music, and I’m much more comfortable with it now, so I’m really excited for people to hear the stuff I’m working on. Will you be co-writing more on the sophomore album? I’m trying to do my second album while shooting my movie, so I don’t know if I’ll have time to be in the studio as much as I want. Eventually I’d like to get to a place where it’s just my band and myself writing together, because that’s what I really love, but at the moment I’m having fun singing songs by some really talented writers. Why not enjoy the people who really know what they’re doing as opposed to me?!
